Philips AED

Project Overview

Class project: Usability Studies (HCDE 517)

Time: Jan 2017 - present

Team members: Alex, Maya, Ria

Research background

Japan is preparing to host the 2020 Summer Olympics. With many non-Japanese speakers expected, Philips would like to know if their public access AEDs will be operable even with no understanding of Japanese voice prompts.

Competitive analysis

Philips would like to compare the usability of the Japanese language Philips FRx Automated External Defibrillator (AED) with the Nihon Kohden AED.

Target users

Untrained (multinational/multiracial) users 18-65 years old who do not speak/understand Japanese.

Interaction map

In order to gain a thorough understanding of the two AED devices, we created interaction maps to illustrate an ideal use case.
